Looked After Child Rights Matter!

Having been a champion of children’s rights since I started working with Children and Young People, my career has recently taken a turn down a very promising path.

Being from an underprivileged background, money and access to good education is not something that was always readily available. I was able to go to university and study an undergrad and was successfully accepted on to a masters degree to focus specifically on children’s rights. Financially, I struggled for years and despite earning a good wage, I found myself falling foul of my own lack of ability to manage finances. I have since regained control however currently struggle to live pay check to pay check having to pay student fees totalling £5300 after not successfully gaining student finance for my MA a second time after personal circumstances meant I had to leave before returning to study.

This MA is extremely important as it gives me the specialism to properly influence change within Children’s homes and change the way children’s rights are viewed. While this work has started, it is massively reliant on my gaining a specialist qualification.
