London to Brighton Bike Ride 2015

On June 21st 2015, myself and my girlfirend, Maddy are taking part in the 54 mile London to Brighton bike ride. Neither of us have ever done anything like this before, so not only will it be a personal challenge, but we also hope it will be a great experience and opportunity for us both to raise money for two worthwhile causes. I wanted to raise money for Help the Heroes, as this charity has been a big part of my family for a number of years now. I am doing the ride in memory of Joe Whittaker, my uncle's nephew, who died in Afganistan in 2008. Joe was only just 20 years old when he tragically died; which is the same age I will be when I take part in the cycle ride. Help for Heroes raises money for all servicemen and women who have suffered life changing injuries. The war in Afganistan maybe over, but the problems of the individuals and their families will always be there. 

Maddy is raising funds for medical supplies in maternity units in Kathmandu, Nepal. She is travelling there in October as part of her student midwifery elective, where she will be volunteering and caring for women and their babies.
