Campaign Story
" It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else." Erma Bombeck
For many years now I have dreamt of being one of a select few designers who gets to show their collections at London Fashion Week each year. I had no idea how or when I would fulfill that dream but eventually I realized that I would pursue it any way I could. So 3 years ago, I started a fashion design company straight out of finishing my degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I have had many blessings along the way and many failures as well. That is only natural for any business especially for the fashion industry.
Today is a new stepping stone to achieving my big dreams and goals. I was one of a handful of independent designers that got accepted to show as an official off schedule designer for this upcoming season at London Fashion Week. I cried when I got the confirmation, the tears were both joy and sadness because I thought that I could not do this. But thanks to some of my trusted friends I was told that it would be possible to raise funds for this project through the kickstarter site.
So that is why I am here, I need to make a 10 piece collection by Sep. 18th, 2010. That is the first day of London Fashion Week and that is the day that I will be participating as a designer. Take a look at last seasons gallery here: http://lagenevenorthevents.dphoto.com/
The collection is going to be a 50's sci-fi pulp inspired theme titled "retro-futurism." I am going to take you through the process of developing this collection during the next month or so. You will get to see first hand all the zany things that go into creating a collection of this size. Everything from sketches, fabric and trim selection to patternmaking and sewing. I may even be able to take you behind the scenes of a couple photoshoots as well! I want to keep you updated and intrigued as you step into the world of a civilized psychopath called Berít New York.
All donations through this site will go directly to the cost of this show. Covering all aspects including the following:
