On Sunday 5 August, just days after an earthquake on July 29, a second and larger Earthquake hit Lombok killing 327 people and leaving thousands injured and displaced from their homes.

As a result, many of the families from the North, East & West of Lombok have lost access to food, water and basic amenities. We are raising money to buy clothing, food and emergency supplies for the families impacted by this disaster.

Lombok is a beautiful island where I live. It is my home. Growing up in such a beautiful place also means that those who travel here play in our backyard. This Holiday Playground is for everyone, and our hospitality to any visiting friends is an fixture in our community.

However, Lombok is also a very poor island. Most of the families affected by this disaster won't have any savings; none will have insurance. It is cruel that the earthquakes struck one of the poorest regions of Lombok.

Despite this, we can be thankful that the earthquakes that devastated the region struck on a Sunday evening when schools were closed. Over 150 schools suffered significant damage.

327 people have been confirmed dead and thousands are injured. Countless families have been displaced and their homes have either been destroyed or made uninhabitable.

The money I am hoping to raise will be used to buy water, food, medical supplies and clothing for those living in the emergency shelters that have been erected since the disaster occurred. US$1 goes a long way here; it will buy enough food and water for an entire family for one day.
