Hoist needed for baby Logan.

And Lloyd Bodilly has volunteered to run a half marathon to raise awareness for this cause.

A passive hoist is needed to assist Logan's family and carer's to provide high quality care and mobility and to ease his discomfort. As Logan is physically and mentally unable to move himself, a lot of assistance is required for him to be comfortable and moved safely. Having a hoist would provide his family and carer's the ability to move him without injury to him and others.

This is Logan's story as told by his permanent foster Mother, Kim of ABC Private Safety Care.

Admitted with meningitis at 6 months old, young Logan spent the next 5 months in hospital. He developed cerebral palsy (brain damage) hydro cephalous (water on the brain) he was blind, had facial nerve damage so he couldn’t swallow and had to be fed with a tube directly into his stomach. His mother had abandoned him in the hospital; it was winter and he was alone; no blanket, no clothes, only a towel.

"I met Logan while helping my friend whose baby was in hospital. We met many babies abandoned in Dora Nginza Hospital, but he was there the longest and in my opinion was the most beautiful of all the babies. These babies’ families either could not, or would not look after them, but seeing a sick baby laying for weeks on end with no visitors, no love, no hope was heart breaking."

"I started going once a week to take clean clothes, blankets and soft toys to the abandoned babies there. Unfortunately I was away on holiday when Logan turned 1 in July 2015 with no family or anyone to visit or hold him on his special day. When we got back, the social worker at the hospital asked us if we would take a severely disabled baby into our care, when my husband and I heard it was Logan, we knew God wanted us to have him and we took Logan into temporary safe care, the plan would be only for 3 to 6 months."

He was constantly in and out of hospital with lung infections and his hydro cephalous got so bad that the doctors said he would only live 6 more weeks and would probably die before Christmas 2015.Fortunately, he was given life changing surgery that granted him the ability to regain some sight and sound awareness, but the reality is, Logan will never be able to swallow, roll over, sit or even hold his own head up. His mouth needs to be suctioned constantly so that he doesn’t choke on his own saliva and he will always be fed through the gastric tube fitted directly to his tummy, but he has no more pain, he is nice and fat and very loved.

Login currently weighs 27kg's. And is still growing. Despite his challenging start to life, having a hoist and access to effortless mobility would remove some of the difficulties faced by Logan and his carers.

Thank you for your contribution and helping make such a huge difference in this little boy's life.
