Livingstone, Zambia

Hi All!

I'm Danial and I'm a working professional by day and a part-time student by night.

In May 2022 - June 2022, I have had the opportunity to volunteer with an organization in Livingstone, Zambia, Africa. During my one-month stay in Zambia, I’d witnessed many under-privileged children and elderlies suffering from poor hygiene, inadequate education due to lack of materials, and having insufficient food and clothing. I’d seen kids collecting used and dirty papers by the roadside to use as writing materials for school. I’d seen kids go hungry and wearing the same clothing for several days. I’d witness the death of an elderly resident at their under-funded Old People’s Home due to lack of care.

However, despite all these hardships that they're going through, all of them shared one similar trade – smiles. Through all the situations they are in, every single child that I'd played with and all the elderlies that I'd spent time with, were full of smiles and positive outlooks in life.

When I returned to Singapore from this trip, I was not able to stop thinking about every single one of these amazing souls that I'd met in Livingstone. Feedbacks given to the Mayor to fund these underfunded care homes was brushed off. It is astonishing to me to witness donations going to churches after churches insteaf of care homes.

Through these experiences, I’d decided to go back to Livingstone in January 2023 to donate some daily essentials for the elderlies at the Old People’s Home, and clothes and school essentials for the kids in the village and orphanage, in hopes to motivate them for the new school year.

So far, I had managed to sucessfully collect donations of these essentials from supportive friends and family. However, sending boxes of parcels to Zambia proved to be extremely costly. Thus, I decided to try and start this gogetfunding page to raise funds for the cover the freight charges to deliver these donations of essentials. I appeal to you hoping to be able to collect sufficient funds to be able to send all the boxes over to Zambia.

I would like to clarify that I am doing this solely and independently. I'm not attached to any organization as, upon research, many organizations prefer cash donation compared to essentials which are much needed. Therefore, I would appreciate all the help I can get. I will keep donors updated with photo proves on where the donations will be spent on.
