living of the grid

Hi, my name is Darlene and this is my storie, me and my husband bought 44 acers of land in the woods with a run down cabin on side of lake 10 years ago, it stared of as our little hide away on the weekend, slowly we started to renovate, every weekend we did a little by little, and  finally we finish the project, we have a cottage, garage, and we built a road of 5km to get to the property with alot of work and determination we finally made our dream a reality we are all solair, gaz and wood stove I have no microwave, toaster hair dryer,dishwasher, we stared to look around the property, and that`s when my husband said, Do we really want to keep all of this for our self or share it ....that`s when the light bulb came on, living in of grid cabines for short stretche of time, to show peaple that with off gridders are possible, snowmobiles, kayaks and conoes, snowshoes, ride atvs, to show them our beautiful  region, learned people from young and old, far and near, and rich and poor, inspire them to reflect not only about off grid life in itself but also to question our collective modern on-grid way of life, The lessons we learned are about disconnection, as much as they are about everything we all take for granted about the modern condition and its conforts. You might need to chop your own firewood,picking food you have grown yourself, getting fresh eggs in the chicken coup and just cooking on a wood stove, the truth is that a visit to an off-grid home will force you to rethink the very meaning of comfort and convenience. Yes I`m asking for the puplics help to make this dream come true, we put so much money in this project that we can`t go back, and don`t want it to take another 10 years to finish it, that`s why I`m asking for the public`s help  thank you Darlene xoxo
