From our small community of farmers in Barangay Cogon Alangalang Leyte, Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) victim and survivor, an association was formed to help my fellow farmers with there daily income through a livelihood package of planting high value vegetables, Livestock and Tilapia Farming. Our association is named Cogon Integrated Farmers Association or CIFA. This association is duly registered with the Department of Labor and Employment, Municipal and Provincial Goverment. Our members are mostly mothers who want to help there husband with there daily needs since our garden is just located within our community. Most of the technical and some inputs are from our provincial agriculture through our great governor. The first phase of our activity was planting vegetables which we currently try to improve so we can maximize income for our members. But the sad thing is despite the diligence of the members the yields are not enough as the weather in our area this year is to extreme. Then second phase was the tilapia which up to this point the fingerlings as for delivery. The third is the livestock, pig breeders which we need to construct the housing. As our equity to this livelihood we are required to construct the housing. This is our problem as we don't have that much budget as we just save USD 500.00 from our vegetable garden. This breeders will be delivered on the first week of january and I cannot fail my members as this can really help them and the community were we live. Most of the manpower is being done by my members who are mothers and grandmothers, from bringing the construction materials and everything that we need for the construction.

With this endeavor I am calling for any kind hearted people and organization to help us... everyone is invited if you like to come to our garden..

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
