Campaign Story
I would like to make LiveArt Community, currently only a Discord server, into a more functional tool for online artists to be able to use for networking.
This fundraiser is specifically for the hosting fees for a website to use in conjunction with the Discord server. It would make certain features either possible, or easier to implement, such as:
Discord bots to add neat features, and help with some of the more mundane moderation tasks.
A better place to host our Art Help, which is a feature that has been in our cross hairs for awhile.
Generally, forums. While chat is nice, some things need a more permanent and better displayed method.
I have had bad experiences with trying to fund/run community projects myself, only to find that people are only willing to use what I provide and not contribute much or at all otherwise. This fundraiser will also serve to gauge interest in the project, and depending on the result, I may just abandon the project and instead just do a personal server like everyone else.
The minimum goal here is $170 US. This will get us a year of hosting with bluehost.com, a provider I have used before and trust, and take care of the transaction fees. There are cheaper options out there, but this is one I know will work for anything I could possibly want to do. If, by some small miracle, we exceed the minimum goal, the money will go to either extra hosting features, or possibly commissioning a programmer to help work on the site. I have some coding experience, but I know people that could do the job better.
