Little Divas

After spending almost two years in the beautiful rural Transkei, I quickly realized that basic "given needs" like running drinkable water from a tap, electricity, health care, schooling are taken for granted so easily.

The Eastern Cape, boasts some of the most unspoilt breathtaking views that our country has to offer, but the poverty is at unreal percentages. The terrain is not car friendly, so most of the day is spent walking, to school and back home again. The nearest grocery/convenience store is a three hour drive costing no less than R100.00

Most families rely on old age grants and child grants to afford the bare basics. Fresh produce is grown to allow the family some semblance of a balanced meal.

What should be an exciting time for mother and daughter to bond is met with fear and shame. How on earth can a rural becoming of age teen be expected to find the cost of sanitary pads and intimate products monthly?

There is no plan B. There is nothing that can be used as a substitute......

There is a dire need In rural South Africa for sanitary pads for young girls. This causes huge embarrassment and time off school.....a simple basic need, a completely natural one.

My dream is to be able to package and drop off at designated points within the community's at NO COST to these girls a monthly little care pack. Made up of sanitary pads, feminine wipes, brochure on the changing body, moods, dangers of underage drinking, drugs etc. These will be packaged in a "not recognizable" form to assure privacy and maintain integrity
