Little Austin, a beautiful miracle!!!

Little Austin is 45 days old today and his weight is just over 2 pounds.

Why we are doing that fundraiser? Little Austin was born way to early, but praise the Lord, he is doing really well. This happened to a family in our community and whoever has children knows, you wanna spend as much time in that stage of being a parent as you can. Heather and Dallas Mielke are staying currently in Edmonton to be with their little boy, which is on high cost. They tried to get EI coverage for parents of critically ill children, but till now it have been unsuccessfull.

This family needs our help!

Always do these things: Show mercy to others; be kind, humble, gentle and patient.

Colossians 3:12

How this all started in Heather’s words.

On Feb 5th I was told by the doctor to stop working and to go on bed rest. I finished up at work on the 12th, because my bosses were away. I started experiencing some very bad chest and back pain on February 15/16. I had my son drive me to the Bonnyville hospital late that night. At 5am I was flown to the Royal Alexandra Hospital. My blood pressure was very high and I was having some very serious issues with my liver which was explained to me by the Doctors as it was trying to explode due to very severe eclampsia. I was very very sick and after 5 days of trying to stabilize my blood pressure they decided they had to take the baby out to save me. Austin was born on February 20th at 3:03pm via c-section.

He weighed 1lb 0.5oz and was 28.5cm long. Austin will be in the neonatal intensive care unit (nicu) until at least May 14/16. They release baby within 2 weeks of due date. So we could be here until June 14/16. Austin is now 32 days old and weighs 2lbs. We didn't tell many people about the pregnancy, because of our fear of losing him like our two previous little boys. We lost one baby boy at 18 weeks gestation (may 5/12) and we lost our second little boy at 23 weeks 5 days gestation on (March 8/13). We were not trying to have another baby but God had other ideas for us.

I feel blessed every day to have Austin in my life. He is my heart!

The hospital has border rooms, but with 76 babies in the nicu currently they are hard to get. Border rooms is only good for the mother. Fathers are not allowed to stay in them unless you can get a family room, but there are almost impossible to get.

The Royal Alex takes all level 3 babies for all of northern Alberta and beyond. They even met a couple from the Yukon.

Please open your heart for this wonderful family who needs help from all of us!

I will thank the Lord with all my heart. Psalm 111:1

  • We are from Ardmore. Last May, I was 26 weeks pregnant. I had severe pain in my right shoulder, so we went to the hospital in Bonnyville. I was airlifted to Edmonton because I had severe pre-eclampsia and a liver hematoma. I had an immediate c-section because I was bleeding internally. A few days later, I developed HELLP syndrome. Unfortunately, our son passed away after 9 days. We do not know Heather or Dallas, however we can empathize with their situation. We wish them all the best during this difficult time and will think of them often.
