Ask a gerontologist I am interested in promoting health and wellbeing for older people in Uganda. I have interacted with many older people through research and other community development initiatives and realised that even where a few older people are able to access treatment for incontinence, the majority continue to face social, economic and institutional challenges in accessing incontinence care aids and products. The few products on the market are not only costly but are also not convenient or confortable to use and dispose off. Many older people remain within the confines of their homes for fear of leakage or smelling of urine.

It is time to increase availability and access to comfortable, hygienic and affordable incontinence care aids and products in order to complement health facility management of ..incontinence and increase older people's engagement in social and economic activities and activities of daily living.

We can bring change to the older people and restore confidence in their ability to participate and contribute to family and community development.
