My Name is Ruth Miller and I’m 19 Years old studying Photography at the University of South Wales. On completing my studies in July/August 2016 it is my ambition to be in South Africa working as a volunteer for 3 months in the Lion Park. This is where I need some help, To achieve my ambition I will need to raise a substantial amount of money and I am hoping to complete a Bucket List of challenging activities over the next 2 years and gain sponsorship along the way, this will be in addition to part-time employment and other forms of fundraising. To achieve my goal will be a once in a lifetime opportunity and any help along the way would be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small the help might be.

 My Bucket List…

  • Abseil down the Northampton Lift Tower
  • 160ft Bungee Jump
  • 2 Castles Run – Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle
  • A Challenging Bike Ride
  • Great North Swim in Lake Windermere
  • Big Zipper in Snowdonia
  • Tandem Skydive

Many Many Many Thanks in advance!!!!!

Below is some more information about what I will be undertaking in South Africa, and I really hope I can make a difference by doing what I can.

The Lion Park has been in existence for 42 years. Our prime aim and function is one of tourism but equally important is the role of conservation. The type of visitor we receive are individuals who consider their role in environmental problems and conservation action, and see themselves as part of the solution. Visitors and volunteers to our park play an important role in conservation, education and animal care. People, volunteers who are interested in ecological concepts will find this project stimulating. In addition, we bread the rare white lion already extinct in the wild and their survival depends on parks like ours.   Volunteers help with the daily tasks such as feeding and caring for the animals, cleaning and maintaining the animal enclosure and maintaining the park, and interacting with the many visitors we have at the park on a daily basis. The visitors are from all walks of life and all ages in the form of local visitors, foreign visitors We are also very strong with local school groups where we have an opportunity to educate tomorrows leaders.
