Ling has been learning to play the piano by herself since she was 18. She started her journey on an over 100 years old squeaky piano; then a squeaky 10 years old piano in student lounge; finally rented a good quality one and squeeze into her small apartment. During this time, she got lots of help from people, the security who let her practice at in the building after school hour; the lovely lady next door who let her played in her house, the owner of the best piano shop in Auckland who let her look after the shop.
Having been learning for 3 years, her skill has reach around level 6,7 while able to play many pieces from level 9 and above. However, beside all the gratefulness to everyone who has given a hand, she is also feeling grateful to music which has significantly improve her mental stability.
Since she does not have her own house and not able to rent or purchase an acoustic piano (long hours practice and playing at odd time have brought her complains), she is now fundraising for a digital piano - Casio GP300 which is $5000 after discounted.
Ling is looking forward to keep discovering the beauties of classical music as well as ragtime, jazz and tango. She will be grateful for any level of help (start from $1!).
Here is a link of Ling practicing 'Romance' by Liszt. (She would like to make a better recording but she hasn't hot a chance to be close to a nice piano for weeks :/ )
