Campaign Story
To whom it may concern,
Our family is reaching out for help to settle the hospital bills of our grandmother. Angelina Maximo, 74, is a retired professional teacher. She lives as the owner of a small convenience store with her family. She experienced back pain for an unexplained reason. It might be because of her posture while watching and scrolling her phone or maybe because of degenerative changes in her spine because of her age. But one night, it was November 06, 2023 when she experienced difficulty in breathing and chest pain. She was sent to the nearest emergency hospital. The nurse did an ECG test to know the heart condition of our grandmother and they also put a cardiac monitor. For 2 hours in the emergency room, those were the only things that were done to our grandmother. No blood test, no chest x-ray, not even a pain killer was given to her. She wasn't checked by a physician for more than 2 hours which led us to worry more about her condition. When the physician came to check on her, she gave medicine and instructed our grandmother to put it under her tongue. The doctor also said that our grandmother needs to do a laboratory test. They also inject her with paracetamol for pain killers. We waited for the result of her blood test and as the result came out, it showed that her Troponin I is higher than the normal range that's why she needed to be in the ICU for close monitoring. Since the nearest hospital has lack of facilities and has slow treatment, we decided to transfer our grandmother to another hospital in a different city. After settling all the documents, waiver, and the bill that has a total of PHP 11,527.71, we transferred our grandmother to another hospital.
It was already 8:00 in the morning, November 07, 2023 when our grandmother arrived at the emergency room. They checked on her and did the ECG test again. They advised Angiogram and PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention). They also did blood chem, x-ray, and 2D Echo. Only a private room is recommended for our grandmother to stay after the procedures because the ICU doesn't have any vacant rooms. It was said that Angiogram and PCI will take 2-3 hours. The result shows that there's a clogged vein on her left anterior descending coronary. A huge amount of money is needed and we cannot afford all of it. We need help from people thus we created this fundraising. We have contacted other families and friends for help, but we still need help from other people to be able to pay the bills in the hospital. The current partial hospital bill is PHP 150,349.81 plus the equipment used in Angiogram and PCI procedures that costs PHP 145,000.00. There's no Doctor's Fee included yet in the bill.
Our family humbly reaches out to everyone for prayers and donations. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for any support you can give us. Any amount is a big help. Donations from everyone can help us to pay the hospital bills and buy the necessary medicines. We hope that you can help us with our financial needs and lift up our hearts. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity during this difficult time.
Edit: As of this writing, the hospital bill is PHP 525,000.00. It includes the Doctor's Fee of PHP 210,000.00 and PHP 35,000.00. Our family would like to thank everyone who donated and still donating, and gave their prayers for our grandmother's recovery. We are still far from the target amount but the help we are receiving is incomparable. Our family is grateful thus, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to our family, relatives, friends, acquaintances, and to people who donated wholeheartedly. Without your help, we wouldn't be able to garner such an amount that we have and be able to pay bills. Our family is still reaching out for help. Any amount of donations is open. Thank you and may God bless us all.
