It has been a year from hell for me. Both my daughter and I lost our jobs in April/May 2018 and with the economy the way it is in South Africa, it has taken a while to secure another job. While out of work, I lost my car and had to try and support my daughter, my two grandsons, (all of whom live me) and had to support myself as well.

Luckily, I managed to secure another job in September 2018, but my daughter has not been so lucky yet. With me losing my car, I have had to rely on public transport to get to and from work and to get my grandsons to school and daycare, which is costing a fortune and money I do not have right now.

I am looking for funding, so that I can purchase a vehicle (I cannot apply for vehicle finance as I am blacklisted), in order for me to be able to get to work and get the boys to school, this funding would really come in handy as I would not have to worry about how I’m going to get money to pay for transport. It would allow me to travel over the weekends with my daughter and grandsons and give the boys some freedom and adventure, instead of being stuck between four walls 24/7.

My goal is to purchase a vehicle as soon as possible, so that I minimize transport costs. These costs I am currently using for transport is money I would normally use to purchase food for the month.By me purchasing a vehicle immediately would reduce these extra costs and I could concentrate on purchasing food for the boys, my daughter and myself.

People talk about “putting your pride in your pocket”, but up until recently I never thought I would be driven by that saying!I am a woman that hates asking for help or for money, I have always believed that there is always a way to get through situations on your own.But losing my car, my only means of transport and freedom to come and go as I please, has really broken me down.To look in my grandsons’ eyes and say “no boys we can’t go to the shop to buy bread ‘coz Nana doesn’t have a car”, breaks my heart, it breaks me, it breaks my soul.

If I could receive the funding to purchase a vehicle, it would mean the world to me, my daughter and grandsons and we would all be entirely grateful.
