THE FILMMAKER. My name is Tyler Mann. Ever since I was knee high, the only thing I have ever wanted to do with my life is make movies. Now, I am an actor, a writer, a director, and a producer. I have competed in many short filmmaking competitions such as the SXSW M.A.F.I.A. competition winning the “Viewer’s Choice” Award for my short film Detention in 2010. A short documentary, Dr. Phil or Dr. Do-Little?, that I along with other students made was an “Official Selection” at the Hot Docs International Film Festival. My films entertain and delve deeper into the human condition making the audience question what it means to be alive.   THE PROJECT. I have always struggled with the idea of faith. I understand the definition of the word, but the concept and reality of it has been a tug-of-war between what I believe and logic. This short film titled Lifecell, was an exploration of what it means to have faith.   In a future, dystopian society where the population is powered by batteries called Lifecells, a once obedient couple, Jace and Em, rebel against society’s oppression by having an illegal pregnancy. Now, they must escape into the unknown with no means of being able to recharge in order to have their baby.   I have surrounded myself with the best collaborators I could have ever hoped to ask for. They are working closely with me to create the futuristic props with a 3D printer, design and construct a futuristic set, design and make wardrobes, and a fantastic, experienced crew. This collaboration all makes the world a cohesive environment that is believeable.      THE $2000 BUDGET.   $1000- ART DIRECTION: Set design and construction, manufacturing futuristic props from a 3D printer, purchasing wardrobe materials and prosthetic makeup. $500- CAMERA AND EQUIPMENT RENTAL. Renting from a company that is giving us a 20% discount. $300- POST-PRODUCTION: Visual Effects will be used, and hoping for an original score. And of course, editing, sound mixing and promotional materials. $200- FOOD. My cast and crew has got to eat!   THE INCENTIVES. $15 or more: A personalized thank-you card $25 or more: Your own signed LIFECELL script and Digital Download of the film $50 or more: Signed script, Digital Download, Poster, and Special Thanks on rolling credits $100 or more: Signed DVD, Digital Download, Poster, and Associate Producer Credit both on IMDB and in the rolling credits $250 or more: Signed script, DVD, Digital Download, Poster, and Executive Producer Credit on IMDB and rolling credits. $500 or more: Signed script, DVD, Digital Download, Poster, and Executive Producer Credit on IMDB and rolling credits. Come hangout on set and meet cast and crew! $1000 or more: Signed script, DVD, Digital Download, Poster, and Executive Producer Credit on IMDB and rolling credits. Get your own LIFECELL battery prop used in the film.   THE GOAL: This film is a passion project. This is a world where I find my mind living in every day. All the money riased will go towards bringing this world to life for everyone to experience. By the end of the film, everyone will be enthralled with questions. In a good way. They too will want to know more about this world and will continue to think about it long after the movie has ended. My goal is to submit this short film to international film festivals to garner intrigue in this world, the story, and most importantly the characters. I am currently writing the feature film script, so with the interest and attention from the short film in the festival circuit, I can get funding for the feature film.     Thank you so much for your support during this exciting new journey. If you have any questions or input, please contact us at [email protected]. Many thanks and blessings! -Tyler Mann
