Life changing operation costs for PDP dogs

Recently we have had a few dogs arrive that need specialist surgeries to improve their quality of life, the dilemma we face is do we go ahead and try and help or put the dogs to sleep if it’s beyond our reach.

We have a 5 year old Pekingese, pound given name is Ollie who arrived in a sorry state at the pound, badly matted and obviously been very neglected. This sweet boy needs 2 operations on both his back legs as he has patella laxation which means his knee caps keep popping in and out, as you can imagine this is very painful. The long term prognosis is looking good, but the road to recovery will take several months which means he has to be in a foster home for all that time. Thankfully, we already have that sorted out and he has settled in very well there, so now we just needs the funds to get started.

Our other case is a 2 year old female, pound given name is Rook who has arrived with a birth defect on one of her hips and she will need to have the FHO operation (femoral head ostectomy). To leave her as she is really isn’t an option as she will be in significant pain and we can’t allow her to continue this way. Rook is a quiet girl who is a little shy but has an amazing temperament, a foster placement for Rook has just been found, so again it’s now just a case of raising funds in order to start her on the road to a pain free life.

We are looking for a total of €750 to cover these 3 operations, this has been vastly reduced to help our pound dogs for which we are very grateful.
