Hi guys and thank you for reading this.

My name is Marcis and I would like to tell you about my aunt Areta Talberga and her story. She is born in 1963 and she lives in city of just over 10 thousand residents called Talsi its around 100 km (62 miles) from capital Riga in Latvia. She is the only child in her family. Aretas dad tragically passed away when Areta was only one year old baby so she had never experienced the security and warmth that loving dad would give. Aretas mum brought her up as a single mother and she never complained about anything despite having great difficulties to finance Aretas school. After she finished her first year of highschool Aretas mum sadly also passed away but she did not gave up her hopes to become a great Librarian and finished her studies and achieved Master of Library Science degree with great pride.

After finishing her studies she became librarian in our local library and worked there for 31 years until 8 months ago she was diagnosed with Bowel cancer. Areta loves her library her books and readers dearly, they have been her passion all her live and she cannot wait to get thru this bumpy chapter of her life and get back to place she love the most her Library. Aretas husband Ilgonis and her son Davis have been super supportive and understanding throughout this experience. Both were building their own dream house at outskirts of Talsi and things were looking up as Aretas son Davis had a beautiful baby Kate. But in 2008 when financial crisis hit us all they unfortunately lost their dream home and they did never really recover from that.

Road so far

Areta has been diagnosed with level 4 Bowel cancer 8 months ago and to relieve her from her pain doctors advised to use stoma bag which worked immediately but only now the treatment could start. Cancer cells have spread throughout her Lungs and Liver and in order to have a cancer surgery doctors need to stop the spread of the cancer cells first so she started chemotherapy which has ended by now and despite giving positive progress it was too slow to stop the spread and move on to next level – removal of the cancer.

In order to stop the spread she needs drug called Avastin, each dose cost 1000€ (1122$) and she needs 12 rounds of this drug. Doctors gave her great chances of stopping the spread with this drug. Avastin is the only drug that can help her to encapsulate the spread. Right after she finishes these 12 rounds of Avastin drug doctors can hopefully remove the bowel cancer and she can finish strong with her head held high. Her chemotherapy was financed by national health service but unfortunately they do not finance Avastin.

This is really Aretas last hope to have a chance to enjoy this big round blue ball we call earth for many years to come. Despite all Areta is always a very positive and bubbly person and we love her dearly but unfortunately only with love were unable to support her treatment any longer. So we come to you with hope that we can come together and give her the treatment she desperately needs and hopes for.

Thank you guys for reading and supporting. Spreading the word by sharing on Facebook or donating would be greatly appreciated
