Help My Friend Get Home To Liberia
I met Zayzay Kpadeh 14 years ago when he made his way from Liberia to Upper Darby, PA. His life was threatened during the brutal and devastating 13-year civil war in Liberia and he made the decision to seek refugee status in the U.S. He lost family and friends in this cruel war that took the lives of over 300,000 innocent men, women and children. He was targeted for death and witnessed first hand many horrible killings. He arrived in the U.S. with nothing and was given a job at Christ Lutheran Church where we got to know one another.
In the 14 years I have known Zayzay, he has not ceased being concerned about his family, friends and street children in Liberia as well as concern for the Liberian community in the U.S. He has coordinated many drives to collect clothes, books, toys, computers, and other things that were shipped to Liberia. At the same time he developed and executed a workshop for Liberians in Upper Darby/Lansdowne on understanding Biblical stories about the many peoples who left their own countries and found comfort and faith in their God. Zayzay also has a radio talk show for Liberians, which you can hear on http://www.christianvisionbroadcastingnetworkcvbn.biz/
Zayzay just completed his Doctorate from Drew University, and he is now the Reverend Dr. Zayzay Kpadeh. I am so proud of him and consider him a close friend. I want to help him raise funds to return to Liberia and make an on-the-ground assessment of the social service and educational needs of Liberians outside Monrovia. He will also touch base with the Rotary Club of Monrovia to identify synergies for Liberian projects. Zayzay needs $3,000 more to make the trip home and conduct the needs assessment in person. His target timeframe for the trip is October. Helping others has been his life’s mission. Please help Zayzay to continue helping others by making a donation to Refuge Ministries, at 312E.
