Liam Samuel’s Lung Mass surgery and Neuroblastoma Treatment

Update posted by Hannah Vieramae Cristales On Apr 25, 2019

It's been a while since I have updated this campaign. We are now halfway done with the chemo sessions. There were not so good news and there are very good news.

I will start of with not so good news, Liam have had skin rashes that turned out be Atopic dermatitis could be due to weather as it's very hot now to where we are staying. He is always having Allergic rhinitis that's making him to suffer colds. He acquired urinary track infection while in the hospital this week and had to have vitamin K shot as his PTT (prothrombin time test) is not good and they suspect to be the reason for having tinge of blood in his poop this week. And for the worst news we received was that hi DNA ploidy turns out to be diploid which would mean a worst prognosis.

Now, for the good news: His Bone marrow aspiration procedure is a success and no other cancer cells found in his bone marrow; his MIBG scan (radioactive medicine was injected in this veins to light up in the areas where there is tumor) turns out good and only those areas where his mass was located was observed to have the radioactive particle attached which means there are no tumors found in his body; his mass' MYCN test turns out that it's not amplified making him categorized at intermediate risk of Neuroblastoma. And lastly, clinically speaking we and his doctor's observed a lot of improvement on him. He no longer have retractions when breathing, he is not having episodes of seizures and he is now gaining weight. We are very happy with his improvements and we cannot thank enough all the people that prayed and are still praying for him.

Thank you very much and please still continue to pray for us especially Liam. We are halfway through and I believe for a complete healing for Liam.

May God return all the favors to you.

It was a sad day for us yesterday to have learned that the mass on the lower left portion of his lung had grew few centimeters from it’s post operation dimension. The oncologist had advised to proceed with chemo therapy. We are not prepared emotionally but we still have to move forward. We have yet to determine the stage but hoping for a very good prognosis.

Help us in praying for our little warrior. It has been very tough for us but we need to keep fighting.

We are currently admitted at the hospital again for the bone marrow aspiration and biopsy and MRI scan for baby Liam tomorrow.

We are halfway to our journey and there are still lots of tests and scans to be done in the coming weeks. Please continue to pray for our baby continued healing. May all the results of all the tests needed be done come back to be favorable for his healing. We are continuously praying that the remaining mass will regress and all cancer cells be gone.

Please also pray for us that we will have the means to support our baby’s treatment as the cost of tests and scans alone are very costly. We have very limited resources as our insurance hasn’t come back us regarding our baby’s previous surgery and hospitalization charges. Despite this challenges we are still blessed with loving family, very good friends, supportive colleagues and strangers with very good hearts.

Hi everyone, it has been 2 weeks since we were discharge from the Hospital. Just an update, our Baby is doing well. We are providing nutrition, increasing feeding and nap time to prepare for this coming Monday for readmission to the hospital. He will undergo series of MIBG Scans and bone marrow Biopsy. These scans, tests and biopsy will determine if there are other mass in other parts of his body. We are praying that there are no other tumors and that the DNA Ploidy test performed on the mass that was taken from his chest will show good prognosis. Please do not cease on praying form our baby complete healing, for strength and means to support our child's treatment.

We are grateful for the support that we are getting from our Family, friends, colleagues and even strangers. Thank you all so much.

Hi Everyone our little warrior has been discharge from the hospital last night. We were allowed to go home to continue oral medications, make him recover from surgery and regain the pounds he lost during these 30 days in the hospital undergoing intensive test and major surgery. In 2-3 weeks time we will need to come back to the hospital for further tests like PET, MYCN and bone marrow biopsy. These tests will determine the next course of action for him to be treated. His oncologists and us parents hopes and pray that the Tumor will regress and he will not need to undergo chemo.

We would like to ask for continuous prayers for our baby that he will be healed completely.

We thank you all for the continued prayers and support. We greatly appreciate all of you.

Hi All Liam has finally benn weaned off ventilator and we have been transferred to a regular hospital room last night. Doctors still need to observe him and make sure he is well nourished until he can have his first Chemo session.

He is stable but he lost 700grams of weight and feeding through tube has been resumed. Tiny steps until he can finally be breastfed again.

We thank you all for the prayers and we continue to seek for more prayers for our baby’s continued treatment for his Neuroblastoma. It will be a long and tough treatment for him, so we wanted to appeal for more prayers for his complete healing and free from cancer.

Liam is stable and recovering from his surgery. Biospy results showed positive for Neuroblastoma. While we are waiting for his recovery blood work up and an MRI will be done to determine how much mass is left in his spine and praying that there are no other tumors in his other organs. Once he is fully recovered they will start on biopsy of his bone marrow to determine at what stage he is on and perform chemo therapy to target the remaining cancer cells

Please please continue to pray for our baby and for us. It is not a very good news for us. I am devastated to know the results of the biopsy of the mass but me and my husband need to be strong for our little one.

I wanted my baby to live long and normal life. He is too young to have gone through such intensive treatments. But in order for him to be healed we need to be strong and endure the pain of seeing him suffer from all the procedures. It’s been 19 days that I don’t even get the chance to hug my baby.

We greatly appreciate all of you who are continuously praying and supporting us. Words are not enough to thank you. We will pray for all you that God will bless you hundred fold.

Me and Beth are heartbroken to hear the news. Stay strong and positive - we will continue to pray for Liam’s recovery.

Thank you everyone for your prayers 80-85% of the mass has been removed today. There are some more left which is near the spine, which is very risky to be removed. We are still waiting for the biopsy results and praying the mass is benign.

Our baby is too young to undergo intensive chemo therapy. And with that we are continuously seeking for prayers. Please please continue praying for our little one.
