  The hardest part of rescue is when your walking down the hallways of Animal Services picking out those you can save and you come across a senior. It hits everyone's hearts, but especially one you know who will not live very long. One program Rugaz runs is "Project Golden Years" that has a hospice care portion for those who are not adoptable due to major inoperable or treatable illness and they just live out their comfortable days in "hospice" care being loved and spoiled for their time with us.

 Maya is one of the beautiful souls who unfortunately has an inoperable tumor among other ailments which cannot be cured and is not giving her much time left in this world. The time she will have will be spent loved, treated as a princess and ultimately in the end surrounded by people who love her, who will cry for her, and people that are her family. She wont be one who will pass away on a cold concrete floor at a shelter.

 We pride our rescue and foster homes on allowing us to continue this program for amazing hospice dogs like Maya who is appropriately named for being very dignified and strong. Without donations we would not be able to give them the care to keep them comfortable for the time they are here, and have them cremated and returned to be with us when the time comes. Your amazing donations make it possible for us to care for these special cases in their dire time of need, and make sure that they are not over looked or forgotten. They are our family and are treated as so. The hospice care homes have gardens and memory spots to keep their ashes at, so they are always with us...
