Let’s support Ethan

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

We need your support. Ethan, the son of one of my colleagues, Diomède Nintereste, based in Oxfam's Burundi Country Office, has recently been diagnosed with Leukaemia. Being only six years old, Ethan urgently needs medical help and such help is not available in his home country.

In the past weeks, I and a team of friends have looked at different avenues on how we can support Diomède and his son. A humanitarian corridor with Rome’s hospital Bambin Gesù has been secured, and the charity organisation La casa di KIM will be able to shelter the child and the accompanying parent for the whole duration of the treatments. The hospital will cover all the costs related to the treatment and the charity shelter will cover the accommodation. Despite travel restrictions globally, we have been able to find different avenues for them to travel to Rome, but all of this comes at a cost. We estimate the total costs to be EUR 4,500 as per below breakdown:

Travel expenses for two (flight and visa): EUR 3,500
Living expenses (such as food and transport): EUR 1,000

We would like to ask for your contributions in supporting Ethan so that he can travel to Rome and obtain the medical help that he needs. We have created a crowdfunding page so that everyone who wants to support Ethan can contribute. All the money collected will be used to cover the expenses for Ethan while he travels to Rome. If any additional money is collected, it will be used to support the family, who also got bigger at the beginning of august, when Ethan's baby sister was born.
