Let’s Support Al Shams Women Football Club

My name is Munawar Shah. I belong to the Shimshal Valley, Pakistan. I am a student and currently earning my bachelor’s degree in sports and physical education. In 2015, I started dreaming to do something for the girls of the mountains. Being a brother to 5 sisters, was something that motivated me to provide some platform for girls in the region. So, finally, I led the foundation of Al Shams Women FC, which aims to empower girls through the power of football and involve them in this beautiful game.

For the last four years, we are organizing football training camps, organizing tournaments, and educational sessions in different areas of Gilgit. Every year we organize Shimshal Girls Football League, in which more than 70 girls benefit from this league and showcase their talent in the region.

We have our Goal football camp in three different villages of Gilgit, Altit Hunza, Khyber Valley, and Shimshal in which we provide equal opportunities for both girls and boys. More than 200 girls and boys have benefited from it. Along with our football activities, we also hold educational sessions in which we give speeches on education and planned activities for the participants, which are focused on increasing their leadership skills, confidence, and teamwork.

We had the honor to play a Gender Equality Football match at the highest altitude ground of Pakistan, at 4100m above sea level.

• Some of the achievements of the club are:
• Three of our players represent Gilgit Baltistan in Gold Cup
• Three players represented Hunza in DJSF
• One player represented Gilgit in Classic League
• One player got admission to the university on a sports base

Our team was the Champion of Gilgit Baltistan Girls Football in 2018 and Runner up in its second edition

We don’t have proper grounds where our girls can play and train comfortably. It is very risky to play on the rough grounds that we play on with a high risk of injuries. Due to the lack of resources, we are helpless and have no other choice than to play on these rough grounds. Usually, we play football on cricket grounds because we don’t have another option but we hope to have grounds for females where they can play easily and comfortably without any fear of injury in mind. It is very important to give access to safe grounds.

For access to safer grounds, we need to create an environment where every girl can play with freedom and passion. It is our prime responsibility to provide and build such infrastructure for our future generations and for that, we need your support.

Our mission:

Our vision is to give every child the opportunity to play football and provide them with the resources and platform to learn, utilize perform and become leaders in their field. Through our platform, we also want to produce world-class athletes for Pakistan, who will represent Pakistan nationally and internationally. Our aim is not only to give them the opportunity to play but also to help them in their education so they can be the leaders of their communities.

There is still a long way to go. Our goal is to raise 20000$ to make a futsal ground and to run the club. Let’s make it happens
