My name is Andrea Kaycee Ortañez and my dream is to become a Registered Nurse then transition into becoming a Doctor and specializing in Emergency Medicine.
I learned that being involved in healthcare is about paying it forward, about giving back to your community, to developing countries, about seeing patients as people; as every individual is a mom, dad, sister, or brother to someone. Although collectively there are patients with similar conditions, each patient requires a unique treatment and should be given the best possible care catered to their specific needs. However, there are clinics and hospitals, especially in third-world countries that tend to be under-funded and under-staffed. As a result, volunteers play an important role in assisting local nurses and doctors, dentists, and specialists.
International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) is the world’s leading volunteer travel company. They believe in traveling with purpose and their programs are for people who want to make a difference through immersive volunteer travel opportunities and cross-cultural learning. They gave me an opportunity to be part of their medical mission by working alongside medical professionals at the frontline of promoting better health and well-being within the communities in Cusco, Peru.
But I need your help to get there! The money will be going towards my flight expenses, accommodation, orientation, and administration costs of the program. If I exceed the amount required, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Peru!
Medical Mission to Peru will be one week in May and Mexico will be one week in July. The campaign will close for Peru on 04/27 but reopen for Mexico.
Please support me in my efforts to raise money for my medical mission to Cusco, Peru.
Thank you in advance!
