Olwethu fire and safety initiative

This project is our first outreach program to distribute fire extinguishers to informal settlements in the Khayelitsha area thereafter proceeding throughout the western cape.we are finding more and more fire incidents ravaging these homes and putting their children's lives at risk.

Can you imagine being a parent having children consumed by fire or be disfigured through such misfortune?

As a solution to this,We plan to provide socialization opportunities, health and wellness information.And social services as needed for families who are economically isolated from the greater community.

OFASI registered in February 2020, is one of few safety initiatives in the country. Servicing unemployed homeowners, retired, and low income earners.

In instances where they lose everything in the fires.the only form of assistance they receive is food parcels, clothes, blankets and other donations of half the materials needed to rebuild their structures.

Which forces them to get deeper into debt with unscrupulous money lenders.As most cannot afford to secure loans in formal and legal institutions, as they are deemed to be high risk or have not enough affordability.

And these unconsidered aspects contribute to certain crimes, broken relationships,school dropouts, suicide,depression and other negative factors caused by the inability to cope with loss of belongings and failed attempts to replace what has been lost.

Our aim is to protect and provide preventative measures of saving people's lives.And projecting their belongings which most often include those of emotional value that normally perish in the event of fire.
