Making a public example of our contractor may stop other unscrupulous contractors from doing what he did.
Can you help us put him out of business?
We are homeowners who all fell victim to a fast-talking “builder” who took our money and left us with liens from the sub-contractors he didn’t pay.We want to take him to court – but he has our money!
This can happen to anyone.
We checked his references – he finished small jobs and they looked good.We got copies of his insurance policies.We made sure he was licensed.He is a member of a national group of builders whose mandate is to promote professionalism in the building trade.
None of this protected us.
We didn’t get what we paid for and we know we probably never will. Even if we win this lawsuit, the odds are so huge against getting any money that it seems pointless. He’s made himself “judgment proof”.
We don’t want this to happen to you!
If no one ever says anything, he - and builders like him - will keep stealing from homeowners who just want a new kitchen or a space changed to accommodate a wheelchair. Those are the kind of renovations we wanted.
We can’t name him here because he would be certain to sue us for defamation. That’s the kind of person he is. We will let the court name him and shame him. And we will make sure the media is there to report it.
Unfortunately, to put him to shame – to stop him – to sue him – will cost more than the credit we have left. Our lawyer estimates that if it goes easily, we’re looking at a legal bill of at least $60,000 – and it’s more likely that this “contractor” will fight – making the bill over $100,000. We're cutting our budget and saving all that we can for this legal fight but we need your help.
