Let’s Help the Churchwells

Family and Friends of the Churchwells!

Hello! We are the Duffs and the Keithleys, long time friends of the Churchwells (and former students of Dan). We started this fundraiser to surprise and bless the Churchwell family during this time of need. They have no idea this is happening and we want to keep it that way!

Here is the situation: Recently the Churchwells have had to complete an unexpected and expensive home repair because of shoddy construction work done by the previous owners. They are currently working with the previous owners to try to secure some compensation for the substandard work. In the meantime, the construction has started and is projected to cost around $20,000. Right after they discovered the extensive damage to the house, their van died. They had to pay $800 to get it running again. They have had their van for years and it is now a financial burden. These kinds of repairs are becoming common. Unfortunately, with the cost of the home repair they are not able to get a suitable replacement for the foreseeable future.

Here is the need: We want you to join us and all those who love the Churchwells to help get them a new, reliable vehicle. We are looking to raise $25,000 for a suitable car for their family of six. We want to raise $25,000 by June 30! The Churchwells will be coming through the Chicagoland area (where the Duffs live and the Keithleys will be visiting) at the end of June and we hope to present them with this huge surprise.

The Churchwells have exemplified generosity over the years. For many of us, the Churchwell house has been a second home. They have housed, fed, mentored, challenged and prayed for us. (They even let Collin borrow the very same van to drive 280 miles to help his mom move when she was in need!) They have given, even when they did not have a lot to give. We are asking that you help us bless them in return. Consider the Apostle Paul’s words in 2 Cor. 8:9:

For you know the grace of Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

May this motivate our generosity. Christ became poor so that we might become rich. We ask you to join us in following Christ’s example, that through our impoverishment we might likewise make the Churchwells rich.

Whether you are a family member, old friend, former student, colleague, church family member, or home school co-op partner you know the blessing that the Churchwells are in whatever community in which they find themselves.
