Let’s help Satchie hear

Good day to all.

I'm Nicole, helping and raising funds for my friend, Satchie (6 yrs old), who is living in the Philippines. He was born a premature baby. Her mother gave birth eight months early on him due to Preeclampsia. His mom was a single mother, and she did everything and fought for him. Satchie must be incubated for at least 7 to 14 weeks to survive. And because God is good, Satchie lived.

While growing up, we noticed that he couldn't hear anything. Even though we shouted and called him by his name, he did not react. Due to his poor hearing, he can't even speak any words or even pronounce or call his mom "mama." Satchie couldn't tell his mom what he wanted if he was hungry or needed anything. He couldn't speak. His mother waited over three years to hear his voice. They had never been able to ask him what he wanted. His mom brought Satchie to his ENT Doctor to find out the problem.

When Satchie turned three, he was diagnosed with the Absence of wave V in all intensities, suggestive of profound hearing loss and absence of abnormal auditory brainstem response in both ears. His mom was in grief when she received this saddening result.

Satchie's mother asked for a second opinion from another doctor, who will be handling the operation for hearing loss for further evaluation. His ENT doctor informed us that he needed a cochlear implant in both ears as soon as possible. The doctor advised us to prepare a significant amount of money for the operation. Since Satchie's mom was single, she needed to figure out where to get funds for the procedure.

Due to Covid-19, and the implementation of total lockdown for safety, they did not have a chance to return to the referred hospital for the subsequent evaluation.

The saddest part, Satchie's mother just passed away on the last 5th of July 2020 due to Status Asthmaticus. She left Satchie at a very young age and didn't have the chance to hear his voice or call her "mom."

We want to help Satchie to have an operation and hope he can hear his mama's voice through her videos soon.
