Let’s help Malou

Dear Friends and Family,

Our friend, Malou Samaniego Magno, suffered a brain aneurysm last July 6, 2018. Because of this, she had to undergo a brain operation. While recuperating, it was discovered that she had suffered extensive brain damage, as she suddenly became unable to talk and eat by herself. She also lost her memory, and is unable to recognize most of her family and friends. Her condition has made her unable to work and continue to provide for her family which is distressful because she is a single mother, and is also the breadwinner of her family. The surgical operations and subsequent diagnostic procedures performed on her have racked up a bill so large that even after her medical insurance, company benefits and medical assistance from family and friends, there is still a substantial balance which remains unpaid.

We are hoping to raise funds to help pay for her outstanding bills as well as ongoing care as she has a long road to recovery.

FAMILY BACKGROUND

Malou has always excelled in her studies. While in elementary and high school, she was an honor student and graduated salutatorian from her high school. This enabled her to get a scholarship at the Ateneo de Manila University and she maintained this scholarship while completing her course as a BS Psychology major. She has worked in Jollibee Foods Corporation since graduation and has managed to go up the ranks. While working, she was also able to complete a Master’s degree in Business at De La Salle University. Her income has enabled her to support her two sons and her mother who is a housewife as well as supplement the incomes of her two sisters and their extended family. Her two sons, Jason, 13 years old, and Jude, 9 years old, are consistent honor students in their classes. She lives with her children, her mother, and two sisters, one of whom has a family of her own.

Malou is not only a dedicated mother, daughter and sister, she is also a very loyal, kind and thoughtful friend. It is very easy to get along with her, and our friendship has endured since our college days. Even if we now live apart from each other, we still make the effort to keep in touch, and try to meet up whenever we end up together in one place at the same time. We are godmothers to each other’s children, and love each other like our extended family. This is why we are making this effort for her right now. If she were capable, she would do the same thing for us too.

OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS

1. Acute subarachnoid hemorrhage secondary to ruptured saccular aneurysm of the left sepraclinoid internal carotid artery

2. Hypertension

OPERATIONS PERFORMED

1. Mini pteronial craniotomy

2. Clipping of left posterior communicating artery aneurysm

3. Lumbar drain insertion
