Campaign Story
Dear friends,
It has been a very intensive and hard few months for Kiki and here is the update!
In the last five months since we started this campaign, Kiki underwent through six cycles of chemotherapy in oncology clinic in Zagreb (every second week he was in the hospital for 3 full days) and we can happily say that things are moving into the right direction.
Cancer has been completely removed from 2 out of 3 of his organs. The part of it that attacked his liver and spleen is gone and these organs are now clean. The part that attacked his small intestines is still there but it was stopped from spreading out which is very good. Doctors say that this is probably the best possible scenario he could have received. Last week Kiki was at the meeting with his medical team and they agreed on the following plan for the full recovery:
- Kiki will undergo for 6 extra cycles of chemotherapy in the next 3 months
After the last round of chemo until today Kiki is trying to get back to normal life. As we know chemotherapy is fighting against the bad guys, while it's also affecting the whole body in different ways. There were days when Kiki felt really tired, there were days when he felt strong overall sickness. He also had some small visible reactions on his body but nothing serious. 15 kg of body weight that he initially lost is now coming back and he is currently at 74 kg which is just 6 kg below his normal weight. As his energy is slowly coming back, he is more active with his four kids, seeing close friends, he even went on a tennis court just to bring the feeling back, (he says he still can't miss a ball).
Kiki and his family would like to thank all of you who helped them in any way during the toughest part of their lives. Every message, every dollar, every phone call, every visit truly filled Kiki's heart, and even if he sometimes didn’t have the energy to reply, he felt it and he remembers. It really gave him strength to fight and push through.
Kiki's medical bills were partly covered by his health insurance and partly from the fund that you've collected through this platform and at this moment there are still funds available for the future needs. However, as you know Kiki is the only financial caregiver in the family and his ability to start working again is at this moment still unsure. Therefore, for the time being any additional financial help would be much appreciated and needed.
Love from Schneider family!
