Let’s help both brothers Helmuts and Ilvars to have Microcurrent reflexotherapy course in Kaliningrad!

Helmuts and Ilvars Lapa are seven and five years old brothers with special needs and both require regular treatment and rehabilitation.

The oldest brother, seven years old Helmuts Lapa was diagnosed with autism, developmental disorders and hyperactivity at the age of 1,5. Helmuts is not speaking, but he is bravely expressing his emotions from crying to hugging people. He is very interested in different technical devices.

The five years old Ilvars was diagnosed with cerebral blood circulation disorder, cervical vertebrae deviation, mental disability and language complications, behaviour disorders of autism spectrum. Ilvars is not speaking too, and he communicates only by expression of emotions - he can get angry, happy or sad. Both boys are active and curious, they enjoy playing with wood puzzles and toys that make different sounds.

Presently Helmuts and Ilvars attending the special Boarding School in small village in Latvia - Jumprava. However, the weakened immunity makes the boys fall ill often. Due to illness they both need constant special care and attendance, which prevents the mother to find a permanent job.

The brothers have completed a rehabilitation program at a healthcare centre, that involved gymnastic therapy, massage, therapy of art, speech therapy classes, also in attended dolphin therapy course in Klaipeda, Lithuania, but it is still too little to facilitate the development of the children.

Following the paediatrician recommendation they need to complete three treatment and rehabilitation programs at Children Neurology and Reflexotherapy Department of “Reacentr” in Kaliningrad. Such treatment method is available only in Russia, Israel and Germany, and not in Latvia. Microcurrent reflexotherapy is recommended for children with mental disability, autism, hyperactivity, sensorineural hearing loss and enuresis. Microcurrent reflexotherapy is used to stimulate the centres of understanding and speech, speech therapist and other specialists have to be additionally attended as well.

There are two more children growing in the family, and the mother is bringing up alone four children. The father is not living with the family, but he is still doing his best to help. Grandparents are supporting a lot the family by helping the boys learn day-to-day self care and acquire basic skills.

The required amount for the treatment and rehabilitation course for both brothers Helmuts and Ilvars Lapa at Children Neurology and Reflexotherapy Department of “Reacentr” in Kaliningrad is 7100,00 EUR.

“Palīdzēsim.lv” (www.palidzesim.lv) is a non-governmental Charity organization in Latvia established in 2009. The aim of the organization is to help children and youth living in Latvia, who were affected by health problems and other problems important for social life and social integration.

4 main activities of the organization:

1. Support in solving health problems - collection of donations for surgeries, rehabilitation and treatment courses, medicines etc.
2. Organization of social integration and education events - attendance to cultural activities (theatre, opera, music concerts etc), sport events, creative workshops, summer camps for children with special needs, educational seminars etc.
3. Provision of primary assistance (food, household goods, furniture, etc.);
4. Provision of consultations to families (social help, accessibility of medical services, involvement of mentors etc.).
