Sam, or Neyna, as she is fondly known, is a cherished member of our Wordsmiths of Kuching community. She has inspired many of us to be braver and truer to ourselves.
In her own words, Neyna is a brave performer who is not afraid to address something that is considered as taboo. Her writing and storytelling is an honest account of her life as a transgender woman, tackling the issue with a combination of humor and candor in a typical ' Neyna' fashion.
Neyna has been admitted into the ICU since 1 March for with infections to her lungs and kidneys. Currently, things are not looking good and the doctors have begun a plasma exchange procedure.
Apart from the worry Neyna's family is experiencing, the growing medical bills is also a big concern. We are very grateful as her employer has stepped in to offer a large sum to cover the bills, but even that, plus insurance, will not cover all that is needed.
This is where every little bit would help. We appeal to you to help out if you can, to help Neyna and her family. She is loved by all who know her, and those who don't would similarly be touched by her boldness and sincerity, both on and off the stage.
