This is Ethan,
Ethan is an amazing, smart, loving and kind boy. As any young aspiring child, Ethan has a lot of dreams. His most important wish is to one day walk beside his Mother, Father, and little Brother. Ethan was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and he is not able to walk, can't sit on his own, and cant stand at all. He doesnt know that he was born at 24 weeks and was given a less than 10% chance of survial. He spent 166 days in a NICU on a ventilator, endured brain bleeds and had three blood transfusions, this goes without mentioning the numerous tests he had to withstand during that time. When it was time to be sent home, Ethan was sent home on oxygen which he remained on for four more months.
Ethan is now five and a half years old and after being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy a lot of things we take for granted Ethan can't accomplish. Ethan has very limited use of his hands, he is unable to take care of his immediate needs such as feeding, dressing and washing himself. Ethan is totally dependent on the people that surround him.
Ethan is a FIGHTER with every sense of the word, and a very determined boy. Currently he has to endure painful deep tissue therapy, this distresses him the most, but he always says "I will do it, because i know it will help me walk one day!"
He wants to be a Doctor when he grows up so he can help little kids just like all the Doctors that have tried and continue to help him.
In the summers Ethan attends a camp, where he feels just like everyone else. You see his camp is a special camp that attends to Ethan's needs. But this camp is very expensive, and one that Ethan's family can't afford. He gets to do so many amazing and fun activities despite all his limitations. As any young boy, Ethan's most favorite activity is to swim, once he is in the pool you can't get him out, but he can't swim on his own. His camp is a Jewish camp, which also teaches him about Judaism. One of his favorite times is of course on Friday when they teach him about the meaning of Shabbos.
Ethan has done thousands of hours of therapy with no insurance and costs are incredibly expensive. As he gets older more items are needed to support Ethan. Right now he is in need of a wheelchair accessible van, and at this stage of his life he is getting to big and heavy to transfer into a regular car seat and his current wheelchair and stroller dont fit into the family's current means of transportation. His daily therapy is also very expensive and must continue throughout.
Ethan's family has reached out to numerous charities and funds that are supposed to be available to families with special needs kids, unfortunately after submitting to all these charities and pleading for help, the steady answer seems to be that the charities funds are depleted or only able to provide a few hundred dollars. You see, there is just not enough funds to go around to help families with special needs children. This is why we need to reach out to you, to our friends, to our families and our community for help.
Ethan's Father is the sole provider for his family. His family has tried on their own for many years to provide everything he needs, but they have exhausted all of their resources and can't afford to lose their home.
THEY NEED OUR HELP!!! Any little bit that we can spare to give this amazing little boy who wants to sing, dance and play will tremendously help. Everything donated with directly go to Ethan's fund and help Ethan get the necessary items that he needs today and in the future and make it a little easier for his parents to encourage him to dream and stay strong just like he is today.
