Let’s Get Nikita to University!

Hello to you all!!! My name is Nikita Angella Morrison, an 18 year old jamaican, and currently a senior at a high school in Homestead, FL. To start off, like most teenagers in my grade level, college/university is coming up and it’s not cheap according to all students who have taken out a loan. I started this campaign so that I may ask for any contribution to help me with my school expenses such as books, tuition, housing and first year deposits. I plan on going to university of Miami, for accounting (major) and a minor in entrepreneurship. Unfortunately my family and I are lacking the funds necessary, given our current situation with a family member having health issues. I want to be able to surprise my father, in particular, as he is a very hard worker. Just to be able to say “Hey, I got this amount of money to help out!”

Before I get into the details, let me take this moment so that you can get to know me and my background a little better. I was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and eventually my family moved to the U.S. for a better “opportunity”. My family is everything, as I come from a family of 7, and also being a first generation child. Education is a must, because I would be the first to actually do something with my life. I do plan on going up to my masters. I am the “mother” of 3 spoiled dogs, I take care of them more than anything I own. I love the idea of wanting to explore the world, and trying new things.

Last year I was fortunate enough to go to a People2People student ambassador program, to all of the UK. It was honestly just incredible, and such a dream! The 2 ½ weeks I spent was my driving force, it made me think and act differently, someone I would never be able to face until today. When in England and Dublin, I loved how there were so many retail businesses, different cultures, and styles. It made me gain a type of confidence in my personal style as I have always been shy in expressing myself. The trip was an experience of a lifetime, something I may never do in the future ever again, but at least I can say I did something quite extraordinary at the age 16. The funny thing was that my initial dream was to become an OB-GYN, but after my indecisive conscious could say anything, I had a sudden epiphany. I wanted to become an entrepreneur, of a clothing business that does not use any type of animal products. That decision only happened after I changed my career interest from international business, then accounting, and then finally entrepreneur. But it is something I DO want to do, and this is also a big passion of mine & I want nothing more than to be able to achieve it.

I am a very hard working individual, and have always tried to excel through school and extracurricular activities. i was the only african-american to be in the top 3% of my class (my school has 326 seniors), with a unweighted gpa of 3.9 out of a possible 4.0. I have been a honor roll student since the 9th grade until now. I am NOT trying to brag, i just wanted to let you know how much importance and effort I place on my educational success. It is my belief that since we only have one life to live, we should ALL live it doing what we truly enjoy and to let nothing stand in our way.

I am asking that you PLEASE invest in my education so that I can contribute to my college funds to pursue my dreams. There is no actual deadline until I graduate, but I want to have a head start, and can allow myself to know if I can continue my education. Whether you can contribute a dollar or a hundred, anything will help in my journey. I appreciate anyone who even viewed my page, and read through.
