Hi all,
Welcome to Letโs Get Moving for Mental Health. This year the student nurses are organising a fundraising event to raise money for The Clubhouse Gibraltar and The Mental Welfare Society. Our aim is to raise Mental Health Awareness . This event will be held on Sunday 9th May 2021 and it consists of walking, running or cycling around our BEAUTIFUL Rock of Gibraltar. You can also help us raise awareness by wearing a GREEN T-shirt on the above mentioned day and/or by donating money.
Please register by joining our event on Facebook 'Let's get Moving for Mental Health' or by sending us a message on facebook or instagram. The registration fee is ยฃ10/adult and ยฃ2 per child (All proceeds go to Charity). You will be able to take part in the event at anytime of the day doing whatever it is that you most enjoy (walking, running or cycling). Once you have registered and completed this challenge post a picture followed by #LetsGetMovingForMentalHealth and you will automatically enter a raffle competition which will take place the next day!
Please note that this is a virtual event, meaning that we want to try and avoid large gatherings due to Covid-19. Therefore participants will be asked to donate money via the go fund me link (Page) and take part in this event on your own accord (by yourselves or within your social "Bubble").
Prior to this pandemic approximately 1 in 4 people were experiencing a mental illness each year. Mental health is considered one of the most neglected problems and it is no secret that mental health has been a recurrent theme even before Covid-19 hit. Now more than ever the people of Gibraltar, young and old are suffering as a result of the effects Covid-19 has had on our community. Therefore, we want to show that we are all in this together. Mental illness has a devastating impact on our global society. Therefore, to raise awareness and promote advocacy against the social stigma surrounding it, we have decided to raise awareness on this day. Let's get Moving for Mental Health in Gibraltar!
I hope you can all take part one way or another.
