Campaign Story
My dad (Keith Sansom), is the most kindest and most generous human being
I know. He is a man that would take his own shirt of his back for you.
My
dad is from Durham, England, a poor area. Since he was young he would
try and make ways to provide for his family. He would barter, he would
trade, he would slave himself for a buck or two. He has always, always
worked.
Keith moved to Australia with his family when he was young and has never returned back home.
A
bricklayer by trade he has worked hard in horrible weather to build
dream homes and renovations for people. He also volunteered his time and
built mine and my families dream home 5 years ago in 40+ degree heat
working with limestone type bricks which dried and cracked his hands and
arms and all - without complaint. Just to get us ahead.
A few
years ago my dad fell from the top of a ladder smack onto hard concrete
and shattered his pelvis front and back. When he was in hospital the
nurses had their strike leaving my dad unable to do usual "needs", no
food or water or assistance or pain relief whatsoever. He called me to
come help him and again, in his bravery - all without complaint. This
accident put him into retirement from bricklaying and heavy duties,
something he has only ever known to do.
In my 33 years of knowing
him, he has worked HARD. Even if he had to work away from us young kids
for weeks and months. He worked at a vegetable garden where he was able
to bring home some vegetables for his family and those we didn't need
(always too many!) he would deliver to our neighbors or friends. Always
giving and never ever wanting anything more than friendship or smile.
Having no money himself, he would still give you his last dollar if you asked. That is my dad!
So
here I am today, asking for help from friends and family to help pay it
forward. Please donate any amount to help get my dad back home to
England to visit his two, very unwell, sisters he hasn't seen for many
many years for his 70th birthday on 25th August.
I thank you
from the bottom of my heart for any donations made to help reward my dad
for all of his hard work in life as all the money we have spare will be
spent on flying from Karratha to Perth to be there to celebrate dad's
birthday with him.
Thank you
