Campaign Story
Honduras is the 2nd poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Such poverty facilitates the worst gang epidemic on the planet with thousands of youths joining gangs every year.
Hello, I am Paloma and I go to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Those statistics are shocking, aren't they? I'd like your help to provide these children with the opportunity to escape the viscious environment they are born into.
I believe that education is the key. Providing people with an education, especially at a young age, has an unquanitifiable impact on their choices, and therefore their life, in the long-run.
Attending the University of Michigan, I am surrounded with incredible opportunities and a safe and encouraging environment in which to pursue them. I feel incredibly honored to be so lucky. I also feel a responsbility to help those who lack such resources in any way that I can. And I would love it if you would join me!
My goal is to travel to Por Venir, Honduras in Feburary, 2016 to continue the work Students Helping Honduras has begun. My chapter of the organization plans to construct and assemble floors, windows, walls, and a roof on classrooms for elementary school children. With your help, Por Venir can begin to educate Honduras' youths and, therefore, enable them to break the cycle of poverty and violence they live in. The children of Honduras and I thank you!
