I am knocking at your good hearts for prayers and financial help for our Baby Khia's heart surgery.

Here is my wife Kharla's letter that I'd like to share to my dear friends and loved ones. I hope you could find time to read it:

----------------------

On December 1, 2020 I gave birth to our lovely daughter "Kiara Lois " via CS delivery. Kiara is already diagnosed having a Dandy Walker Syndrome even before she was born. Knowing that, as parents, we're truly heart broken. But we are still hoping and praying for God's grace to heal our daughter.

On December 2, 2020, she was diagnosed having a multiple congenital anomalies and one of these is the Dandy Walker syndrome. Baby Khia could have a hydrocephalus because of this syndrome, but thankfully she was born with a normal head size.

Also, Khia has a VSD (Ventricular Septic Defect) - a hole in her heart. According to the doctor, there are different types of VSD and on baby Khia's case, she has the type of which does not close on its own. The doctor advised that Kia needs to undergo a heart surgery to close the hole and the surgery needs to be done within 6-8 months after she was born. The operation will cost around 600-800 thousand pesos.

On December 3, her doctor found an infection in her blood called Sepsis Neotarum. With that, she needs to take antibiotic for 7 days. On the same day, I was advised by my OB-GYN to go home and get enough rest. It is with heavy heart to leave Khia in the hospital but she needs to stay longer in the NICU for close observation and monitoring.

On December 5, our hearts jumped with joy when we heard the good news that Kia has no more gastric bleeding since December 4.

As of December 6, Khia was able to tolerate feeding since morning w/o gastric bleeding noted. Oxygen inhalation was already discontinued; room air are well tolerated as well.

On December 11, this will be the last day of her antibiotic. We are expecting that this will be the day that baby Khia will be discharge from NICU. However, her Doctor advised that she still needs to stay to properly monitor her weight gain. PJ and I continue to visit her every day to breast-feed her.

Each day we are praising the Lord for His goodness and faithfulness. We are lifting everything to Him. Please continue to pray for us especially our baby Khia.

Thank you so much in advance for whatever support that you will extend to our family. We will keep you posted on the progress of our baby Khia. May the Lord richly bless you and keep you always!

Sincerely Yours,

Kharla Ortega

In preparation for baby Kia's 1st minor operation, we decided to feed her via ogt (orogastric tube) because she is still not gaining weight. She needs to weigh for at least 3kg for a high success rate of her major operation. This minor operation that will about to occur will
