Campaign Story
Mandela believed in all children having access to free education. We believe that every child deserves books that will empower and entertain them. With English and Zulu being the most spoken languages in South Africa, I was surprised that not a single bi-lingual book for children exists. All available books are either just in one language or the other. Most poor black children struggle to learn English as their parents can't read or write it and they cannot buy the books for their children.Often books are donated to poor communities but are written purely in English. This means that when a child is learning to read English they would need the luxury of a dictionary to help the understand the words. Through the help of this book, English speaking children can learn basic Zulu to be able to communicate with their nannies, school friends and the community at large. It's bridging the language gap. Between the ages of 0-7 Children have the ability to quickly and easily absorb language. This book will help children enjoy learning the two languages that will help them thrive in South Africa. The illustrations are beautiful and simple. This will help any child ( or tourist ) get around in South Africa.
Raising this 3000 dollars will allow me to donate 1000 books to South African children in languages they can understand and enjoy. Let the children thrive in English and Zulu
