PCI is looking for funding to help the citizens of Coweta County in Georgia. We would like to help individuals seeking to complete their GED with the funding for testing. Currently, the test could range up to $250 depending on how many modules are taken at one time. PCI would also like to offer an incentive to some of the individuals to look further than a GED. Our hopes is to provide some forward looking individuals with a $500 grant to be applied to a certification program. This will enable them to have a skilled trade and increase their employment chances.
This is from a report created by: Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute which is a Coweta County Human Services Assessment: August 2011
2001-2002Economically Disadvantage students had a 68% graduation rate while Georgia had a 52.5% rate for the same group.
2009-2010 Economically Disadvantaged Students had a 19.4% graduation rate vs Georgia 76% for the same group.
We are talking a sharp drop in graduation rate for Coweta County. So where do these individuals end up in the system?
WE need to look for avenues to at least get the willing individuals a GED and a possible certification.
If you can not contribute: Please let your friends, family, and coworkers know of this movement and ask that they take the time to review our proposal.
WE all can make a difference in someones life and give them a bright future.
