Campaign Story
At the beginning of April 2015 Rodney was given the news that he had a brain tumour. The only symptoms he had was severe tiredness and headaches 2-3 weeks preceding his diagnosis and after a few trips to the doctors was told that he had depression.
On the 7th April 2015 Rodney was operated on for over 9 hours. The tumour was deep and very large. They managed to remove about 75% of it, any more would have severely reduced his standard of living. Rodney was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) very aggressive. He will not be able to work for the foreseeable future.
Rodney is married to Janelle and has 2 children Ruby (15) and Flynn (12), who he provides for. We have been looking into different trials that may take his case on, however they are all outside New Zealand where they live. We would love to be able to contribute toward travel and treatment costs.
This family gave up their home for us so that we could be close to our family during the most trying time that our family as a whole have ever been through. When we lost our Anthony they moved out of their home and where and are still are, an amazing support to Anthony's Mom, Dad and brother. Now we would be grateful if our friends and family could help us pay this forward. Richard is doing the London marathon at the end of this week to fight for Rodney and to fight cancer for all our friends and family who have been through and are still going through it. Its an opportunity to raise money for this cause that we feel can not be missed. Thanking you all in advance!
