My aim is pretty simple and clear: I would like to see the infamous Bonfire night in Belfast, Northern Ireland on11th July.
Those of do not know what Bonfire night is, please watch the youtube clip that BBC made years ago. I think this one is the best bet for you to start. BBC:The billion pound party
In my view, the event is unimaginably strange customs. I have many questions about this event. Like, How come is this still a thing? It's terrifying me and making me sad at the same time. So, I must see it and think about what that is. If I can go there, I will tell people around me what I see. Then, people might be interested in Northern Ireland. That's the idea of this fundraising. It's all for a good cause, not my gain.
If the bonfires are just a traditional, like some Protestants say, it's not a big deal for an outsider to see. Instead, it's an excellent opportunity to prove the Protestants are not bigoted. I must go there and confirm their viewpoint. I promise you that I don't jump to the conclusion until I see it.
If the bonfires are the symbol of hate, like some Catholics say, I must see it. Also, I assume that many Catholics want an outsider to see it, and validated it's discriminatory.
In summary, I must see it. It's no use until I do so.
The truth is, I've written many words for this fundraising. Though, I cut almost all of it. Because it's going to be endless and I cannot express what I feel toward the bonfires or Northern Ireland as a whole. Moreover, I think no one wants to read my shallow understanding. It's almost guaranteed to annoy many people. So I cut it. In other words, this is not a political act — more of a personal action toward all of the people in Belfast.
Note that I can grantee you things below.
1: I'm not an annoying Youtuber that makes further problems. Unfortunately, though, I cannot differentiate myself with those people. I have to admit it. Nevertheless, I'm telling you that I understand I should respect all of the people.
However, I don't know if I should write my opinion somewhere after I went. Tweets? Blogs? Honestly, I don't know. I'd like to hear your opinion. Comments are welcome.
I'm looking forward to discussing this matter with you.
2: I will talk about what I see to my friends. Every little step help. I'm just a person, but still, I might have a bit of influential power over people around me. Perhaps the next generation might be interested in Northern Ireland in the future.
3: I will spend all the donation on airfare and the cheapest accommodation I can find. I will try to Couchsurfing. I will pack my food if necessary. Please note that the goal is high because airfare is high. Although, the sooner I buy the ticket, the cheaper the cost will be.
Also, if possible, I'd like to see Northern Ireland border before Brexit happen. The more people donate, the longer I can stay in the country. The chances are slim; I understand that. However, that's the idea. I promise you that your contribution is not going to be in vain. I'm a true believer of an old saying, "one eye-witness is better than many hearsays."
Please let me be one for future generations.
