Street Boy and Mother Rescued, Recovered & Reunited
Barely 10 years old, Geoffrey Kamonye had lost his father (who was an unskilled mason) after which he found himself on the streets of Githurai a small town on the outskirts of Nairobi Kenya. Their family of Four (Mother, Geoffrey and brother) went to different corners of street life with devastating results and the sister becoming a domestic worker.
Gradually he begun to use drugs as he did manual jobs like ferrying goods for people as they alighted from public transport. He developed drugs induced psychosis as he took whatever was offered to him by strangers. After long use of different psychoactive substances his condition turned schizophrenic with time. He was frequently abused by other street people as was told by several street vendors.
Many years later, I (Mary W. Njoroge) founded Precision Counseling and Rehabilitation home. As we carried out our shopping errands we came across this man who clearly was not just a street man but a sick Man. Compassionately moved by his condition, we organized to rescue him with an assumption that Family would come looking for their own. No one showed up!
One year down the line he had recovered.
Making sense of names and places he uttered my team and I engaged on Home Tracing only to find an old poor grandmother. Now three years after, we have found the sister (who does household cleaning chores) and mother (who also required rehabilitation) but they have no Home. Mother is currently in rehabilitation funded by well-wishers too.
I am appealing for donations to buy a plot of land, build a simple house and start an economic activity (poultry keeping) and give them a livelihood.
Estimated at, Plot -10, 000 USD; House -5,000 USD; Household items -1,000 USD; Poultry house, Chicken and feeds for 3 months 1,000 USD. Totaling to 17,000 USD.
Join me in giving a home and dignity to Geoffrey and His mother Jane. As they trace the other brother.
