Let Gercie walk, see, and speak again

Hi everyone! We are Grace & Gizelle, and we are doing this campaign for our older sibling, Gercie, who was diagnosed of a very rare condition which is Guillain-Barre Syndrome, affecting only about one person in 100,000.

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare disorder in which a person’s own immune system damages its nerve cells. It is characterized by abnormal muscle coordination, paralysis of the eye muscles, and absence of the tendon reflexes.

Since the nerve muscles of his eyes are affected, Gercie cannot even open his eyes without using his own hands. Even if his eyes are open, both of them are frozen as they have no movement at all. He cannot even walk on his own and speak clearly.

So far, he has undergone 6 sessions of Plasmapheresis, a method of removing blood plasma from the body by withdrawing blood, separating it into plasma and cells, and transfusing the cells back into the bloodstream. It is performed especially to remove antibodies in treating autoimmune conditions.

This treatment is very expensive and so far, the running bill in the hospital he is confined at already reached above Php 1,400,000.00. We are reaching out to the people with a helping hand to provide assistance for our brother's treatment to help him with his journey to see, walk, and speak again.
