Cristina is a 2-year-old pretty little girl who is claiming now for an opportunity to see the World like you and me and improve her quality of life.

She was diagnosed Retinopathy of Prematurity (Grade 5) after staying in an incubator for newborns during two months between life and death condition in a hospital in Mexico. Her birth weight was 1.15 kg (2.5pounds) and 30 weeks of gestation. She was connected to a ventilator and many other devices to monitor her vital signs 24 hours a day because continually stopped breathing and she bled a lot from her small nose. Day after day we thought she could leave this world at any time. After 60 days at Hospital and many blood transfusions and prayers, she was discharged.

Fortunately, Cristina survived and was released to us but not her siblings which passed away days after birth. We had triplets but just Cristina stays with us. At least, one of them was at home.

Once Cristina was with us, we felt that things could not get worse and all the bad things we had experienced during her birth would have a happy ending – but it was not, in fact; they were beginning. We realized that she had difficulty to follow our fingers, objects and did not stare her eyes in front of us. Retinopathy of Prematurity – ROP- Grade 5 was declared. We got back devastated again feeling as if we had been losing her for second time.

Retinopathy of Prematurity is an illness that causes Low Vision and Blindness in many children from developing countries. Governs are increasing its health standards but they are not sufficient, at least not for our Cristina who was diagnosed Grade 5 of ROP (Total Retinal detachment on both eyes).ROP is a disease that should not exist after implementing proper ophthalmologic checkups with preterm infants.

Cristina needs a Stem Cell Treatment to have an opportunity to see World and so, have a better Quality of Life. With this treatment she will have an opportunity to recover part of her sight. She has been a brave girl with a very strong spirit at her short life and deserves to grow as the same as other children do, play in the yard, see the nature around her and have the same possibilities to success in her life.

She needs your support for her coming Stem Cell Treatment that has a cost of $26,000 USD.

We are thankful to God for having her and thankful to YOU for your kind support.

Sincerely,

Erika and Victor
