This program is aimed to provide exposure and in-depth understanding to students about the community in Padang, Indonesia. This program is will also promote Malaysia’s culture and diversity to Padang’s community. Lastly, this program will establish a meaningful and remarkable connection between UTP and community in Padang.

The programs which will be conducted are Health and Well-Being Literacy Awareness Program, Green & Sustainable Lifestyle Program and Cultural Exchange Program:

As Indonesia is growing as a developed country, it suffers from being one the highest rate of polluted countries therefore, it is important for Indonesian community to be aware of this crisis. Health is one of the concerns that the Indonesian community faces nowadays which is due to multiple contaminations or pollutants in their daily resources. Giving exposure of their country’s pollution issue to the school students by organising Health and Well-being Literacy Awareness Program which includes a module on how to take care of one’s health that will be involving hands-on activities to truly show the methods of taking care of their hygiene. In this context, education pillar is highlighted as this project will educate the local community of Padang to practice the teaching module and may share the knowledge and input with their friends or relatives even after the modules are done.

Green & Sustainable Lifestyle Program is a program proposed which is in the alignment of socioeconomic and environment pillars. Through this program, the local community of Padang will be taught on the alternative way in utilising reusable sources such as plastics to create furniture that can be used in their daily lives. This method will indirectly teach the Padang community to contribute in the 3Rs concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Apart from educating on 3Rs practice, this program will contribute for socioeconomic betterment as the local community can reduce the living cost in purchasing furniture. By practicing to utilise the resources through the program, they can build their own furniture using the available resources around them according to their necessities. In addition, this aids in reducing the contribution of marine pollution due to abundance of plastic wastage in rivers and oceans which is correlated with environment pillar. Therefore, this program may include sustainability aspect which will result in positive impact to the environment and local community development.

Lastly, the Community Interaction program will strengthen the bond between two nations because we will understand the difference between two cultures. They can also introduce the rich Malaysian culture to their surroundings. From the angle of socioeconomic, the social issue that has influenced the slow-rate development of economy of this community is the lack of social interaction with the international community. Therefore, the impact factor of the idea behind the cultural exchange is to encourage the community to interact with each other more, which at last help them in organising their community and develops their economy.
