Thank you for taking the time to read up on my fundraiser, Ruiz and I already appreciate you and hope that your kindness is returned to you.

What is happening that I need funds? Ruiz has rapidly and progressively developing cataracts on both eyes, which has left him nearly blind and unable to get around unassisted. Initially Ruiz' eye was cloudy, white and there was noticeable vision loss followed. After a visit to an Eye Specialist for animals it was determined that Ruiz has what is called "Luxated Lens." Meaning the zonules in the eye that hold the lens in place break somehow and the lens is able to move/slip out of the location it is supposed to be in.

How is a luxated lens treated? Ruiz has to undergo eye surgery to remove the affected lens(es). The surgery is close to $6,000 with no guarantees that Ruiz' vision will be completely restored. Ruiz has had several vet/specialist appointments, one visit alone was a whopping $500 and is currently on four very expensive medications for his eyes, one to help with pain and two to keep the eye pressure/swelling down. As well as two different ointments to provide moisture and comfort as one of the symptoms in addition to blindness is extreme dry eye which can be very painful.

My Goal? To make sure that Ruiz is comfortable, happy and healthy as quickly as possible and there is nothing I would love more than to see his quality of life restored by regaining vision through this surgery. Nobody likes seeing their children in pain, and Ruiz is my fur baby, I do not have two legged children, but the health of my 4-legged baby is equally important to me. My heart is breaking to see Ruiz in the condition and pain that he is currently in. The goal is to contact as many caring, loving people as I can and hopefully be able to come up with enough money to get this surgery done as soon as possible.

How can you help?

I know that in our current economy, money is tight and that is why I am having to ask for help. Also, I just lost my father in December to a long and courageous battle with cancer, having incurred all the funeral costs, the need for Ruiz' surgery couldn't have come at a more difficult time. If you have $1, $5, $10.... any amount that you can donate will help.

What your donation will help pay for: Emergency vet visit, medications, surgery, post-op follow-up, eye specialty appointments (weekly), and medications vital to the success of the surgery.

Estimate that the vet gave us just as the cost of Ruiz' surgery is between $5050 - $6,000

It is humbling and very hard to have to say that "I need help" and I hope that the good that I have put out there over the years will come back and help my Ruiz.
