What I am Doing
As of August 5th I will be helping children with mental illness and disabilities in Peru for 4 weeks. I am volunteering with the Global Volunteer Network which was launched in 2002. Their vision is to connect people with communities in need, with a particular focus on vulnerable women and children. They do this by supporting the work of local community organizations in countries through the placement of international volunteers.
Why Donations are Needed
GVN is a NGO and does not receive any government funding so they are dependent on the fees paid by volunteers to pay for the services and resources they provide. In order to volunteer I will be using my personal savings and will work hard to raise the funds needed to take up this opportunity to help others. If you are able to help support me financially in some way it would be greatly appreciated. My program fee to volunteer in the Peru Program for 1 month is $1,756.58 CAD dollars. In addition to this, I need to pay for my airfares, entry visa, police check, vaccinations and insurance. As you can see, volunteering does come at a cost. I would appreciate any donations you can give to enable me to take on the challenge of helping others in less fortunate circumstances than ourselves.
Every dollar makes a difference, please help and make a donation.
