Dear Fundraisers

My name is Benjamin and I better start by telling you how I came to be involved in this crazy venture and how I've already invested approximately £1,300 of my own money in a poor, small but above all growing school in Africa.

First of all I’m a Christian which means I believe God has a guiding influence on my life and that he has a job for me to do, I am also a single father needless to say my son Kieran came along before I was saved.

I met my wonderful wife to be in early september 2014, and proposed in June 2015.
In June 2015 my fiancée Brenda introduced me to Ruth the founder of “the lend a hand foundation” a small organisation just a small group of people doing some humanitarian work at a school close to a coastal city called Mutwapa.

I had already saved some money to start construction on a school building there so on my first trip ever to Kenya we constructed a 400 square foot foundation for a classroom.
I can tell you the novelty was quite something, I’ve never owned two Lorries full of concrete blocks or a lorry full of sand before.

I’ve been to Kenya since then in November 2015 and on both trips I have filled my suitcase with unwanted children’s cloths for the locals near the school, I’m becoming a known face at the village along with Ruth and my fiancée Brenda.

Ruth has appointed me her official UK representative of the lend a hand foundation and I want help funding the completion of the classroom which I have made a commitment to finish, education is so important to these people. Facilities like this can help them grow as a community, it is also an investment in the younger generations, better facilities equals more classroom time with teachers, more time with teachers equals better end of school exam results equals, better secondary school prospects.
